Remain calm & contact emergency services immediately if anyone is injured. Refrain from moving your vehicle from the scene until photographs have been taken. Step 2:
Take photographs of the accident scene, ensuring that all vehicles involved are clearly captured. The images should accurately depict the extent of any injuries (if present), the damage sustained to the vehicles, and the positions of the vehicles, as well as the lane markings present. These photographs will be essential for the subsequent accident reporting and insurance claim procedures.
Step 3:
Record the details of all vehicles (Car-plate Number) and drivers involved. This should include their full name, contact number, address, NRIC/FIN number, and the name of their respective insurance company (If Possible).
Step 4:
You may depart from the accident scene provided that none of the following conditions apply:
- Involvement of pedestrians or cyclists
- Hit-and-run incidents
- Involvement of foreign-registered vehicles
- Fatalities
- Injuries where victims have been transported to a hospital
- Damage to government property

Will my NCD be affected if I make a claim against someone?
Your No Claims Discount (NCD) may or may not be affected if you make a claim against someone else, depending on the situation:
- The other driver is 100% at fault and their insurer accepts full liability.
- Your insurer is able to recover all costs from the at fault party’s insurer.
In this case, your NCD stays intact, because you’re not technically making a claim on your own insurance.
Under what circumstances do I need to make a police report after being involved in an accident?
You MUST make a police report immediately if:
- There are injuries or fatalities.
- It’s a hit-and-run case.
- A government vehicle or property is involved.
- A foreign-registered vehicle is involved.
In these cases, a report to the police is mandatory, and failure to report may result in legal penalties or insurance issues.
What will happen if PPF or Ceramic Coating Have been done to the car?
If someone else hit your car (and is at fault), it is your right to claim for repairs (including damage to your ceramic coating / PPF)
You can:
- Claim against the at-fault party’s insurance.
- Use your own comprehensive insurance policy, depending on the situation.
- Show proof that the coating was applied — e.g., invoice, receipt, or warranty from the workshop.
- Have evidence that the coating was damaged in the accident (photos, professional inspection).
Will I still be able to make a claim if I wasn’t the named driver involved in the accident?
Yes, Claims can still be made even if you’re not the named driver, so long as you have the owner’s permission and a valid driving license.
How soon must I report an accident to my insurer?
You must report all accidents to your insurer within 24 hours or by the next working day, even if you do not intend to file a claim.
Failure to do so may result in loss of coverage or rejection of future claims
What documents do I need to file a claim?
Typically:
- Police report (if applicable)
- Photos of the damage and accident scene
- Driver’s NRIC and driving license
- Proof of ownership
- Vehicle license plates number involved in the accident
How long does it take to process a claim?
Most claims are processed within 7 to 14 working days, depending on complexity and whether third-party liability is involved
What happens if the other party disputes the claim?
Your insurer will investigate and may negotiate with the other party’s insurer. If fault cannot be clearly established, you may have to claim under your own policy and your NCD might be affected.
Can I still make a claim if the accident was my fault?
Yes, if you have Comprehensive Insurance, you can still make a claim for repairs to your own vehicle, even if you’re at fault. However:
- Your No Claims Discount (NCD) will likely be affected unless you have NCD Protection.
- You may need to pay the applicable excess/deductible.
- Your insurer will not recover costs from a third party if you’re at fault.
If you only have Third Party Only or Third Party, Fire & Theft coverage, you cannot claim for your own vehicle’s damage if you’re at fault only for the other party’s damages.
